Joomladays 2009 - Presentation Writing Joomla 1.5 Modules

On Friday 12 and Saturday, June 13, 2009, the fourth edition of the Dutch Joomla Days will be organized in Nieuwegein. Peter Martin will give a presentation about module development for Joomla 1.5.

Modules are an important part of Joomla. What can you do with it? And what not? How do you make them?

 

Installing Modules is fairly simple and programming Modules is not difficult. With a little PHP & MySQL knowledge and this presentation you should be able to do it yourself.

Peter Martin talks about writing modules for Joomla 1.5 natively:

• Joomla Extensions in general
• Modules compared to Components and Modules Plugins
• Module Positions (Template)
• Programming Tools

On the basis of an example, the programming of a module is made clear:

• The basic principles of Modules
• Make generic Modules through the use of parameters
• The use of translation files
• Creating an installation file
• The principle of Model-View-Controller on Modules
