Dementia Guide Zuid-Gelderland website

The Dementia Guide Zuid-Gelderland (Netherlands) is intended as a guide for people with dementia and their families. The guide focuses on South Gelderland: municipalities West Maas en Waal, Druten, Beuningen, Wijchen, Millingen aan de Rijn, Ubbergen, Groesbeek, Heumen and Nijmegen.

Analysis

The website Dementia Guide Zuid-Gelderland has been online since October 2005. Stichting Welzijnswerk Ouderen Nijmegen (SWON), a foundation which supports eldery people in Nijmegen, manages the website. Because the website was fully built in HTML website, it was too difficult to maintain. Therefore the foundation was looking for a better solution.

Solution

Joomla 1.5 with a "yellow pages"-like component that addresses all of dementia-related institutions (information, support etc) in a clear online guide.

The old HTML website was built, similar to the print edition. Each section of the guide had a different color. For Joomla 1.5 website a template was developed with a few colors that were related to certain sections.
